On-campus Allies
MEChA de Georgetown - MEChA works for immigrant rights, increased recruitment and retention of Latin@ students, and promotes cultural awareness with all sorts of events throughout the year. MEChA was GSC's closest ally in the Living Wage Campaign (2001-2005), and we've join forces again since then for events like the massive protest against xenophobic Minuteman Chris Simcox (Fall 2006).
Georgetown NAACP works to improve the political, educational, social and economic status of people of color; educates our campus about racism; and fights for an end to racism. Partnered with GSC in Spring 2008 to end racial discrimination and sweatshop conditions at New Era Cap's Alabama factory.
H*yas for Choice - Pro-choice activists fighting for reproductive rights at Georgetown, the nation's oldest Catholic university. In the 1990s, at t the Vatican's demand, Georgetown cut funding to this group and forced it to remove the trademarked word "Hoyas" from its name (hence the asterisk).
Georgetown Students for Justice in Palestine - A group of students very actively working for decolonization of illegally held Palestinian lands; the end of the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem; the rights of Palestinian refugees; and an end to the Israeli system of discrimination against the Palestinian population.
GU Students for Fair Trade - Georgetown students working to make trade fair on-campus, locally in DC and globally! They are part of United Students for Fair Trade
GU Peace Action - A loose network of Georgetown anti-war student activists. Known best for erecting a "peace camp" in Red Square for weeks in spring 2003 to protest the start of the US military occupation of Iraq: read more and even more.

GU-Law National Lawyers Guild - A group of activist law students, part of an long standing national network of activist lawyers and lawyers-to-be. The GU-Law chapter attracted national attention in January 2006 when they protested a speech by Alberto Gonzales on their campus: read more.
Local DC Allies
CASA de Maryland - A community-based organization of day laborers, domestic workers and tenants organizing for justice in immigrant communities around Montgomery County and elsewhere in Maryland.
DC Metro Central Labor Council (CLC) - A coalition of all workers' unions in the DC area. An incredibly important ally to GSC for many years.
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 32BJ - Contracted Georgetown janitors joined this union in 2006; contracted Georgetown security guards are in an ongoing fight to make their employers recognize this union are their bargaining agent.
Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 1199 - The union of most directly-hired workers at Georgetown including maintenance, facilities, grounds, GUTS bus drivers and janitorial staff. Also includes many hospital workers and Medical Campus workers.
DC Student Labor Action Project (SLAP)
National Allies
United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) - GSC is a chapter of this international organization of students who have fought to end sweatshops abroad and on campus through leveraging student power at our universities since the mid-1990s. Through USAS, students organize massive campaigns working directly with workers fighting to end global garment sweatshops, win living wages and the right to organize on campuses, confront the Coca-Cola company, and much more!
Jobs with Justice (JwJ) - A national organization of labor unions with community organizations (religious, student, nonprofit, etc.) joined together to win campaigns for workers rights.
Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) national - The student project of Jobs with Justice.
Living Wage Action Project (LWAC) - A project by student living wage activists to travel to other schools to share campaign experiences and support new and existing student-worker solidarity campaigns. Created by members of GSC with other USAS and SLAP students from around the U.S. [site is temporarily down]
Coalition of Immokalee Workers - A super effective and inspiring organization of farmworkers from Immokalee, Florida, who have won major campaigns against Taco Bell and McDonald's to get a penny more per pound of tomatoes picked and steps towards ending modern day slavery in the tomato fields.
